So I decided to take the plunge and do DBS, deep brain stimulation. I was excited and scared at the same time. I already canceled once, but I didn’t have all my questions answered I rescheduled in the fall. I did my homework. I called a couple of people that had the DBS from my neurosurgeon, and they were very happy with their new lease on life!

I got in touch with Dr. Anderson and asked him the rest of my questions. He was very nice and had no problems telling me what the risks were and what the pros were. Anyway, I decided to do it again and I was called that somebody had canceled their DBS. I immediately said yes I was very nervous, very scared, but knew I really wanted to do it. I was so excited I had to be there at 5 AM in the morning and he was taking me at 7:30. As soon as he put me to sleep the time went by so fast and I woke up. But boy with my head throbbing off my body and my nausea was so intense, I said to myself why did I ever do this? But I’m telling you it was worth it. I My daughter came and picked me up on Sunday which is unusual but they had to get my headaches under control. As soon as I got home, I started to feel better . The resident had to get my headaches under control with lots of medication. Finally went home on Sunday around two and little by little I feel better and better and I already feel like the dystonia is better and overall I’m feeling good.

In my opinion, I feel as though everyone that has Parkinson’s should have DBS. Can only make you better not worse and you feel like a person again like I used to be. Your attitude should be positive. You have to know that you will be better. We are fortunate enough to have this procedure. I will keep you informed of my updates. I am so excited to blog this procedure. Just talk to your doctor about it. It’s a good thing to consider if you have Parkinson’s. My children and my friends supported me 100%. Their love and support kept me going.
